About Us
A lifeline when someone disappears

We are an independent charity funded by donations.

We search for missing people on behalf of the friends and family left behind and provide specialised support to ease their heartache and confusion. Our free, confidential helpline is available 24 hours a day by phone, text and email to support missing children and adults, and their loved ones.
On these pages you can find out where it all began, who is involved and where the charity Missing People is going in the future.

Give time

Use the Search Directory to find out who is missing in your area or volunteer for Missing People.

Give socially

Join the Search by following us on Facebook or Twitter. The more people who share our missing people appeals with friends online, the more chance we have of finding them.

Give anything

Let us know how you are supporting Missing People! Call us on 0800 MISSING (647 7464) or email supporters@missingpeople.org.uk and tell us how you can help.

important Our strategic plan

Post by Bob on 17/11/2017, 3:55 pm

Our vision is that every missing person is found safe.

We are here to ensure that anyone who is missing can find a safe way to reconnect with a loved one, to get a message home, or, to get to a place of safety; and that families are supported whilst they live with not knowing what has happened to someone they love.
In the next five years we have set ourselves an ambitious target to double the number of people we help. To do this, we need to significantly increase our income. There is more information on this website for potential corporatetrust and individual supporters who are interested in finding out how they could help us reach this goal.

Our plan for Scotland
In 2016 we launched our plan to increase our reach in Scotland, where Police Scotland receive nearly 40,000 calls in relation to people going missing each year. Missing People works in partnership with Police Scotland and the Scottish Government. We provide publicity appeals and support to missing people and families with missing loved ones across Scotland.

important Policy and Parliament

Post by Bob on 17/11/2017, 3:57 pm

Policy and Parliament

Our work to improve national provisions for missing people and families
We believe that missing people and their families should be able to find the emotional, practical and legal support they need, and we work to encourage this through improvements in law, policy and practice. We use our policy and Parliamentary work to ensure that politicians and other decision-makers are aware of these support needs, and involve people affected by the missing issue wherever possible.
The Policy and Research team also provides a hub of information about missing, conducts and supports research, advocates for change through campaigns, and monitors and evaluates the charity's impact.

Missing News

The Policy and Research team circulates a regular newsletter, Missing News, containing up to date information about research, policy, events and sector developments. To sign up to Missing News, or to read previous editions, click here.
